  • The Opportunity

    You will play a key role in extending the capabilities of our WorkHuman Cloud SaaS product, being used by over 4 million employees, and over 300 well-known customers worldwide. Working within an agile team, architecting high quality applications, and overseeing the delivery of high quality code, you will be championing technical excellence on the Social/HC engineering team which owns our market-leading Social Recognition product (see for more details).


    The Social team owns the software that enables our customers to realise transformative business value from their social recognition program and truly become a “Workhuman Enterprise”. The team’s work is central to our company mission of shaping the future of work by helping organizations connect culture to shared purpose.


    We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer who wants to bring their skills to bear and help a successful team become even better.  This role is for you if you have a passion for working with wide ranging technologies, get a kick out of creating well-designed code, enjoy inspiring others to set high standards in technical excellence and delivering technology solutions which delight customers.

    Responsibilities, Skills & Qualifications

    The value you will deliver:

    • You will promote technical excellence of delivery of new capabilities, which meet market needs, and support our rapidly growing business
    • You will set and communicate the overall Architecture strategy for our social recognition features
    • You will be central to laying the foundations to the path ahead, working with Product Directors and Product Owners to understand business objectives, identify potential solutions and reduce uncertainty
    • You will lead the design and delivery of the web applications that form our market-leading social recognition solution
    • You will support Software and Senior Software Engineers as required as they both learn from you, and challenge you to succeed
    • You will be involved in influencing the direction of our product strategy, designing solutions to shape the future of social recognition
    • You will become a knowledge centre for the company’s recognition solution and how it is integrated with other systems, internal and external


    The skills you will bring:

    • You have 10+ years experience of Java, OOP, JEE stack/Spring, and JavaScript as well as deep experience in HTML 5, CSS and JS frameworks such as React
    • You have 5+ years experience working on web application architecture and design. Architectural experience is needed for this role.
    • You have excellent knowledge of API design patterns and standards including REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, Batch Integrations as well as database technologies such as PL/SQL
    • Ability to communicate and influence best-practices within the team
    • Extensive experience with automated unit and integration testing
    • An agile mindset, valuing respect, collaboration, continuous improvement and learning cycles, pride in ownership, focus on delivering value, flow and the ability to adapt to change
    • BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Information technology or equivalent work experience
    • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and mentoring other team members
